Christian drama ministry Cross Purpose Productions

Martin and Deborah Hogen Martin Hogen has been involved in theater since the 1960’s. In 1987, he prayed for a drama ministry, hoping to use his God-given talents. As a young boy Martin caught the acting bug when he was hired as an extra in the epic western movie, ‘How the West Was Won’.  He was awed and inspired as he worked on the set with bigger than life actors such as John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart and Henry Fonda.  Since that humble beginning God has molded the lump of clay and placed a burning desire in Martin to present inspirational dramas that point to the life of Christ.  The dramas are not about preaching, doctrines or coercion. They are about love, understanding and friendship, trust, and trying to live as commanded by our Lord.

Martin’s credits include more than 30 years of professional work on stage, TV and movies.  Some of his most memorable roles were Noah in the production ‘Noah’, Lahab also in ‘Noah’, King Nebuchadnezzar in the production of ‘Daniel’ and Judas Iscariot in the production of ‘Behold the Lamb’, all at Sight and Sound Ministries in Lancaster, PA.  During his time at Sight and Sound Martin appeared before more than two million people.

Martin has also written and directed TV commercials and numerous plays and musicals.

Deborah Hogen has been involved in drama production on many different fronts including all the technical venues such as costume design, lighting, sound, set design and construction, publicity and marketing, and makeup.  Being a musical vocalist, she began performing with her husband, filling in between scenes with contemporary Christian songs.  Soon, she was included in various scenes as more actors were needed and then became an integral part of the two-person acting/production team.  She is a capable director and enjoys the entire production process of her craft.  Always looking for ways to improve her talents and make her characters and productions believable, she spends hours researching the design and historical / biblical documents on one of her other loves, her computer.  Her focus is always to be a living vessel for God to use to share His Word.

Both Marty and Deborah have received their dramatic training from Black Hills State University and through various Repertory Theaters and workshops. They travel extensively throughout the US.

Marty is an ordained pastor.

“"I recommend to you -- Cross Purpose Productions. This ministry of hope in Jesus, in dramatic form, is a very effective tool in ministering to people's needs. Each time they have ministered to our congregation, people were blessed, ministered to, challenged in their walk with God, and pointed toward faith in Jesus Christ. I whole-heartedly recommend Martin and his ministry to you."
